How this packing list is built

Most packing checklists online are one generic list copy-pasted for every trip. This one scales with your actual trip length — clothing quantities are calculated per day rather than fixed, so a 3-day weekend and a 12-day trip don't get the same number of t-shirts. Season, trip type and a few extras (flying, kids, camera gear, gym) each add their own relevant items on top of the base list, so a beach trip and a Himalayan trek end up with genuinely different checklists.

If you'll have laundry access during the trip, toggle that on — clothing quantities are trimmed since you won't need a fresh outfit for every single day.

Frequently asked questions

Does the checklist change for winter vs monsoon trips?

Yes. Winter adds heavy jackets, thermals and gloves; monsoon adds quick-dry clothing, a compact umbrella and waterproof footwear instead.

Can I add my own items to the list?

Yes, use the "Add something of your own" field below the checklist to add any custom item under a category of your choice.

Is my checklist saved if I close the tab?

No, this tool works entirely in your browser and doesn't save data. Use "Copy list" to save it as text before closing, or note down your trip settings to regenerate it later.

How are clothing quantities calculated?

Items like t-shirts and socks scale per day of your trip (e.g. roughly one top per day), with a sensible minimum for shorter trips. Toggle "laundry access" if you'll be washing clothes mid-trip to reduce the quantities.
